UK online counselling

Online counselling in the comfort of your own home.

Online counselling offers the same depth of therapeutic support as in-person sessions, while allowing you to access therapy from the comfort and familiarity of your own space. Many clients find that being at home helps them feel more relaxed, making it easier to open up and engage in the therapeutic process at their own pace.

I use a secure, encrypted video platform to ensure privacy and confidentiality. Before we begin, I’ll guide you through everything you need to know so you feel comfortable with the process, whether it’s your first time trying therapy online or you’ve done it before.

Because my work is rooted in the body, mind, and nervous system, we’ll still pay attention to physical sensations and grounding during our sessions, even through the screen. I’ll help you find ways to regulate and reconnect with yourself using gentle techniques that work just as effectively online as in person.

Online therapy can be especially helpful if:

  • You live outside of the local area or prefer not to travel.

  • You feel safer or calmer at home.

  • You need flexible scheduling around work, study, or family.

  • You want continuity of support during travel, illness, or life changes.

You’ll simply need a quiet, private space, a good internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. I recommend finding a comfortable chair and having water or a blanket nearby- small touches that help create a sense of safety and grounding.

The Therapeutic Relationship Online

Many people wonder whether therapy can feel as personal or connected through a screen. Research and client experience consistently show that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face counselling. The relationship we build together remains at the heart of the work, creating a space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported.

Is Online Therapy Right for You?

Online counselling can work well for a wide range of concerns, including:

  • Trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Stress and burnout

  • Low self-esteem and self-criticism

  • Grief and loss

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Autism and ADHD

  • Emotional regulation and nervous system support

Preparing for Your Session

To help you get the most from online therapy, I encourage you to:

  • Choose a private space where you won't be interrupted.

  • Turn off notifications on your phone or computer.

  • Use headphones if this helps you feel more comfortable and confidential.

  • Allow yourself a few minutes before and after the session to settle and reflect.

What Happens if Technology Fails?

Occasionally, technology doesn't cooperate. If we lose connection during a session, I will attempt to reconnect. If this isn't possible, we will agree an alternative method of contact, such as telephone, when we begin working together.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Is online counselling as effective as face-to-face counselling?

Yes, many people find online counselling just as supportive and effective as meeting in person. The therapeutic relationship is still central to the work, and we can still explore emotions, patterns, trauma responses and nervous system regulation safely through video sessions.

Can I have online counselling if I live outside your local area?

Yes. Online counselling allows me to work with clients across the UK, so you do not need to live near Frome, Westbury, Warminster or Wiltshire to access support.

What do I need for an online counselling session?

You will need a quiet, private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Headphones can also help with privacy and sound quality.

Is online counselling confidential?

Yes. I use a secure, encrypted video platform, and the same confidentiality boundaries apply online as they do in face-to-face counselling. Before we begin, I will explain how online sessions work so you feel clear and comfortable.

Can trauma and somatic counselling work online?

Yes. Although we meet through a screen, we can still work gently with grounding, body awareness, nervous system regulation and emotional safety. Many somatic and trauma-informed approaches can be adapted effectively for online sessions.

Is online counselling right for me?

Online counselling may be a good fit if you prefer being in your own space, find travelling difficult, need more flexibility, or feel more comfortable opening up from home. We can talk this through during an introductory call.
