Online counselling in the comfort, privacy and familiarity of your own home.

Online counselling offers the same depth of trauma-informed support as meeting in person, while giving you the flexibility to access therapy from the comfort, privacy and familiarity of your own home. Many people find that being in their own environment helps them feel more relaxed, making it easier to open up, regulate their nervous system and engage in therapy at a pace that feels manageable.

Online counselling may be particularly helpful if you:

  • Feel overwhelmed by leaving home because of anxiety, trauma or burnout.

  • Are autistic, ADHD or AuDHD and feel more comfortable in your own environment.

  • Live with chronic pain, fatigue or health conditions that make travelling difficult.

  • Live outside Wiltshire, Somerset or Bath, or anywhere else in the UK.

  • Travel regularly for work or need greater flexibility.

  • Feel safer beginning therapy from home.

Sessions take place using a secure, encrypted video platform to protect your privacy and confidentiality.

Before your first appointment, I'll explain everything you need to know so you can feel comfortable with the technology, whether it's your first experience of online therapy or something you've used before.

Although we meet through a screen, therapy remains grounded in the connection between your mind, body and nervous system. We'll still notice physical sensations, explore what your body is communicating, and use grounding and nervous system regulation techniques where helpful. These approaches work just as effectively online and can often be easier to practise in the environment where you spend most of your time.

To get the most from online counselling, all you'll need is a quiet, private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Having a comfortable chair, a drink, and perhaps a blanket or another comforting object nearby can help you feel settled and create a sense of safety during our sessions.

Can Therapy Still Feel Personal Online?

Many people wonder whether therapy can feel as personal or connected through a screen. Research and clinical experience show that online therapy can be just as effective as face-to-face counselling for many people. What matters most is the therapeutic relationship.

Together, we'll create a safe, collaborative space where you can feel heard, understood and supported. The screen simply becomes another way of meeting, allowing you to access specialist trauma counselling wherever you are in the UK.

Preparing for Your Session

To help you get the most from online therapy, I encourage you to:

  • Choose a private space where you won't be interrupted.

  • Turn off notifications on your phone or computer.

  • Use headphones if this helps you feel more comfortable and maintains confidentiality.

  • Allow yourself a few minutes before and after the session to settle, reflect and gently transition back into your day.

What Happens if Technology Fails?

Occasionally technology doesn't cooperate. If we lose connection during a session, I'll first try to reconnect. If that isn't possible, we'll use the backup plan we agree at the start of our work together, such as continuing by telephone.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is online counselling as effective as face-to-face counselling?

Yes. Many people find online counselling just as supportive and effective as meeting in person. The therapeutic relationship remains central to our work, and we can still safely explore emotions, trauma responses, patterns, nervous system regulation and body awareness through online sessions.

Can I have online counselling if I live outside your local area?

Yes. Online counselling allows me to work with clients across the UK, so you don't need to live near Frome, Westbury, Warminster or elsewhere in Wiltshire to access support.

What do I need for an online counselling session?

You'll need a quiet, private space, a reliable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. Headphones can also improve privacy and sound quality.

Is online counselling confidential?

Yes. I use a secure, encrypted video platform, and the same confidentiality and professional standards apply online as they do in face-to-face counselling. Before we begin, I'll explain how online sessions work so you feel confident and comfortable.

Can trauma and somatic counselling work online?

Yes. Although we meet through a screen, we can still work gently with grounding, body awareness, nervous system regulation and emotional safety. Many trauma-informed and body-based approaches adapt very effectively to online therapy.

Is online counselling right for me?

Online counselling may be a good fit if you prefer being in your own space, find travelling difficult, need more flexibility, or feel more comfortable opening up from home. If you're unsure, we can talk it through during your free 15-minute consultation.
